ABSTRACT

Power supply system assumes a very unique role with in a typical electrical
system. It gives the system more life by providing consistent and reputable power to the
various circuits used. It defines the system against the harsh world outside the boundaries
of the enclose and protects its user by not letting them harm them selves when a failure
occurs. And at the same time it should not allows the failures to reach the whole system.
So in order to meet this requirement the system should have a perfect design specification
which determines the efficient working of the system during fault conditions.

The damage to the equipment occurs because of sudden voltage rise in the system.
An electrical substation is a subsidiary station of an electricity generation, transmission
and distribution system where voltage is transformed from high to low or vice versa using
transformers. Electric power flows through several substations between generating plant
and consumer, duty reducing the voltage at several levels
