We have received our first media request conceming the 2011 Census end the NHS from The intent is that they
will print story in tomorrow's newspapers. Focus seems to be on wy the change and impact ofthe change. I will keep
you posted on any new developments concerning media.

In 2005 the Stat Act was amended to allow the release of Census personal records (including name) from 2005 and
‘earlier, A second clause added to the Stat Act said that beginning with the 2006 Census, consent would have to be
asked in order to release personal information from the Census. This only relates to the Census and no other surveys.
See section 18.1 of the Act.

Minister Clement would like something in writing tonight explaining exactly why the 92 year disclusure cannot be included
{in the NHS,
We would like shis followed up by a briefing note to the Minister on this issue tomorrow. We are concemed as to why this
{seue did not come up in any of the briefings to the Minister leading up to now.
