Grading
Class assignments are given to help students improve their science skills and assess what they have learned.
Each assignment will be given a point value. Grades will be calculated as a percentage of points earned out of
possible points. All major projects and assignment will be scored using a rubric scale provided for that
project. Following the rubric will assist students in obtaining the highest grade possible.
Grading Scale:
100 – 90 = A 69 – 60 = D
89 – 80 = B 59 - ↓ = F
79 – 70 = C
However, there are times when illness or circumstances happen and students cannot be present. When absent,
students are allowed one per day of absence. It is the responsibility of the student to request and obtain
the missing assignments.

Classroom learning is a partnership. Each student is responsible for coming to class with a good attitude
prepared to learn science to the best of his or her ability. Research shows that students whose parents are
involved in their learning have a higher success rate in school. Here are some ways that parents can help:
Be involved! Ask your student if they have work. If they are continuously saying, “I have no work” be
suspicious and ask the teacher. Homework will be assigned at a minimum once a week.
At times, various materials may be needed such as empty milk cartons, old newspapers or empty two-
liter bottles. Please participate by sending in requested materials when possible.
Please feel free to call me at school (248) 351-000 ext or e-mail me at kcrunk@bradfordacademy.com if
