Review of inflation rate
14th November, 2009

 Rise of 1.2 pc from previous week for Primary


articles.Annual rate on point to point basis was
11.04pc as compared to 9.94 pc for 7/11/09 and
12.66 for 15/11/09

 Index for Food articles group rose by 1.6 pc

 Index for fuel power light & lubricant’s remained


unchanged.

 Rise of 0.8 pc from previous week for Primary
articles. The annual rate calculated on point
to point basis stood at 12.53pc .

 Index for fuel, power ,light & lubricants rose


by 0.1 pc to 345.0(provisional)from 344.7
previous week)for the week ended
21/11/2009 .
Current Scenario
 Since mid-2009, the inflation rate has picked up
sharply, most notably for consumer prices, which, by
September, were up by around 11.5% over a year
earlier. Wholesale prices have also begun to rise again,
after remaining in the negative territory for three
months till August

 The annual rate of food prices rose to 17.47% for the


week ended November 21,2009 as compared to last
years inflation rate of 10.75%

 Acording to RBI's forecast the economy is expected to


grow 6% in the current fiscal year, with inflation
touching 6.5% by March,2010.
