ORGABEH MOA
Conflict and Negotiation

During the entire game, our group had to choose which card we will be pulling out. We
had a hard time deciding since we had 4 cards that is equivalent to -6. There was already a
conflict within the group in what card should be pulled out. There was a task conflict. Good
thing the conflict within our group is of low level. We were able to learn from our mistakes which
helped our group performed better by garnering a good score.

For us to be able to arrive at our decision, our group (XY2) used collaborating in
handling the conflict among group mates. We measured the pros and cons and what might be
the outcome if the other group would throw a different card.

In the preparation and planning, our group’s goal is to win and not get a draw with our
opponents (like all the other groups). The information we only know about our opponent is that
they have eight cards and two of them are blank cards.

In the defining the ground rules, our group decided that Kerwin should be the one
negotiating with the other group since he is good with manipulating and influencing other
people.

In the clarification and justification, we reminded Kerwin to stick to our goal and think of
the outcomes before making the final decision (agreeing to the opponent). We also reminded
him what might happen if the opponent pulls out a certain card, whether our group will win or
not.

During the first bargaining, our group decided to have a win-win situation wherein both
parties get to have an additional double six points. During the second bargaining, we had a hard
time deciding since we would get a deduction and the opponent group has a blank card. Both
groups are depending on each other since the opposing team is also losing. We nearly got into
a draw. Good thing the other group is generous and Kerwin is a good at explaining the
outcomes to the opposing team.

To have a closure in our negotiation process, both parties showed the card and passed
it to the professor.

During the game, I have observed that their was competing and collaboration when it
comes to handling the conflict. There is competing since one of the group lost while the other
group won. There was also collaborating since some of the groups both earned double six
points.
