Bluetooth In Wireless

Communication

By
What Is Bluetooth?

 Designed to be used to connect both mobile devices

and peripherals which currently require a wire
 Simplify Communication
-Devices and Internet
-Data Synchronization
 Wireless USB
It can be also said as a USB without wires
short range wire radio technology which operates
on a range of 10 meters
How does it works ?
o Bluetooth is standard for tiny, radio frequency
chips that can be plugged in to your devices
o These chips were
designed to take all of
the information that your
wires normally send and
transmit it at a special frequency
to something called receiver
Bluetooth Frequency
• Has been set aside by the ISM for exclusive
use of Bluetooth wireless products

• It communicates 2.45 GHz frequency

Avoiding Interference : Hopping
• Bluetooth uses a technique called spread- spectrum
frequency hoping

• In this technique the device will use 79 individual

randomly chosen frequencies within a designated
range
• Transmitters changes frequency 1600 times a second
Who Started Bluetooth?

Ericssion Mobile Communication

• Bluetooth special interest group
- There are five founding members namely

Ericsson ,Nokia, IBM, Intel &Toshiba .

• Promoter’s groups
- 3COM, Lucent, Microsoft, Motorola
• Now over 1900 members
Advantages

Wireless ( no cable)
No setup needed
Low power conceptions (1 milliwat)
Industry wide support
Disadvantage
 Short Range (10 meters)
 Low transmission rates
- Data rate 1.0 mbps
 Mostly used for personal use
 Fairly Expensive

Bluetooth’s Future
• The future of this technology becomes a standard

• Often, with new technology, early changes mean

reconstruction. Not with the Bluetooth, instead
there will be an improvement to the existing
standard
