NETWORK DRIVES AND YOU

You have a number of choices to where you save files to on our school network.

Let me give you a brief rundown of what should go where and why.

So when you click on the Windows logo and go to “Computer” you will see a list
of different drives to save stuff.

I would ignore everything apart from the bottom line. Why? They are places to
save stuff on the network and NOT on your laptop. The advantage of this is if your
laptop blows up you will lose everything if all your stuff is on your laptop!
A place to put stuff you
want to share with your You should save all your private work This is a place to put stuff to share
students. Students in in the Personal Drive. Nobody can with other teachers. Your

All the above places are the safest way to save your files.

You can access the files in these drives from any computer in the school
(including obviously your classroom computer)

YES YOU CAN…..

Save things in your Documents folder on your laptop

Save things on your laptop desktop.

BUT REMEMBER!

If your laptop breaks or has some sort of coffee related incident the I.T. Support
guys may not (and probably won’t) be able to recover your files.
