NEW GLASSES

I'd like to buy

a new pair of glasses
to see the world
exactly the way
I'd want it to be.
My world.
My glasses.

The rims'd be painted

an explosion of colors
baby blue
bright yellow
cool green
royal purple
and I'd see the world
exactly the way
I'd want it to be:
colorful
vivid
bursting with life.
My world.
My glasses.

They'd be studded intricately

with tiny rhinestones
ruby red
blood red
and tinted
a subtle shade
of blushing pink
And I'd see the world
and I'd see your face
exactly the way
I'd dreamt it to be.
My world;
my love;
my glasses.

Attached to a band,
an elastic band,
a beaded band,
to hang around my neck
to lie on my chest,
close to my heart.
So I could take them off
and put them on
any time.
My glasses.

I'd wear my glasses

everyday
everywhere
to see the world,
my world,
exactly the way
I'd want it to be:
No war.
No sadness.
No broken hearts.

I'd wear them proudly,

head held high.
Staring. Gazing.
at the world I'd created;
the world I'd made.
At peace.
At joy.
At freedom.
At love.
A perfect world:
My world.

So I'd like to buy

a new pair of glasses
multi-colored
rhinestone-studded
rose pink tinted
elastic banded
beaded
glasses;
to see the world
exactly the way
I'd want it to be.

But then,
there's just one problem,
one tiny problem:

I'm broke.
