unsere Szene
für ihre Internati-
onalität und besonders jetzt im
Sommer auch ihre Reisefreudig-
keit bekannt ist, so gilt doch auch
in der Welt des Psy Trance das
alte Sprichwort: Andere Länder,
andere Sitten! In diesem Sinne
trifft man unterwegs immer wie-
der auf Überraschungen, mal auf
sehr angenehme, manchmal aber
auch auf eher unangenehme. Wie
sieht es aus, innerhalb unserer
globalen Szene: Was ist lokal
gerade angesagt? Ein sommer-
licher Kurztrip durch Europa.

AN INTERNATIONAL JOURNEY
ON SEARCH FOR THE TRANCE VIBE
Rein zahlenmäßig kann Deutschland
punkten: Nirgends tummeln sich
die Freiluftvergnügungen so dicht
wie entlang des berühmten Goa
Highway 24, wie dir wahrschein-
lich auch auf der Festival Map in
unserer letzten Ausgabe aufgefal-
len ist. Ein unverkennbarer Beweis
dafür, dass hier immer noch ein
Hotspot der Szene liegt. In Deutsch-
land hat alles seine Ordnung, die
Beats laufen sauber und gerade
und genauso gerade sind die Gas-
sen des Festivalcampings gezogen,
zumindest bis Samstagabend. Aber
auch auf den Straßen herrscht Ord-
nung, die aufmerksam von der Poli-
zei kontrolliert wird. Und die Jungs
haben immer häufiger die bizarre
Neigung, einem beim Pinkeln zugu-
cken zu wollen…
Wir richten den Blick doch lieber
nach oben, auf der Karte genauer
gesagt, und schauen uns an, was
die Szene in Dänemark so treibt.
Das Land ist bekannt für seine her-
vorragenden Progressive Produ-
zenten und das Publikum nicht nur
für diese Spielart, sondern auch für
technoide Sounds sehr empfäng-
lich. Wer zum ersten Mal in Däne-
mark feiern geht, könnte leicht bis
mittelschwer über die recht sport-
lichen Preise staunen: Für eine Par-
tynacht werden nicht selten 45 – 50
Euro verlangt und wer häufiger zum
tanken an der Theke andockt, sollte
ausreichend flüssig sein! Allerdings
darf nicht unerwähnt bleiben, dass
man in Gegenzug mit hohen Qua-
litätsstandards und einer einmalig
ausgelassenen Feiermentalität ent-

lohnt wird und jetzt im Sommer gibt
es zudem zahlreiche gute Umsonst
& Draußen Veranstaltungen.
Noch weiter nach Norden? Aber
gerne doch, da hätten wir zum Bei-
spiel… Finnland, das nicht erst seit
gestern durch eine ganz eigene
Sound-Schule von sich reden macht,
die gemeinhin als Suomi beschrieben
und von mir mit dem Prädikat „wirk-
lich heftig abgefahren“ versehen wird.
Zu hören gibt es Suomi auf angenehm
untergründigen Open Airs, passender
Weise in den mystischen, tiefen Wäl-
dern des Landes. Im Morgennebel
kann es dort allerdings etwas frisch
werden und daher wenden wir uns
nun wieder gen Süden.
Die Niederlande können nicht nur
durch ihre aufgeschlossene, hei-
tre Mentalität -die übrigens tatsäch-
lich unabhängig von ihrer relativ
liberalen Drogenpolitik ist- sondern
auch mit einer wirklich feisten Tran-
cegemeinde überzeugen. In diesem
Zusammenhang darf die Hausbeset-
zerszene nicht unerwähnt bleiben,
denn sie brachte Trance in den Nie-
derlanden wirklich voran und immer
noch finden viele gute Partys in die-
sem ausgesprochen sympathischen
Milieu statt. Dort dauern sie oft auch
etwas länger, denn ansonsten ist
in Holland gesetzmäßig recht früh
Schluss in den Clubs und Bars.
In Frankreich gab es in jüngster Ver-
gangenheit leider vermehrt Stress
mit den Behörden, so wurden einige
große Festivals beinahe oder auch
tatsächlich abgesagt. Wer sich nicht
zum sponsorenfinanzierten Main-
stream- Event bekennt, wird schika-
niert, so scheint es leider. Aber die
nach wie vor starke Szene lässt sich
ihren Mut nicht nehmen: So hat das
im letzten Jahr abgesagte Hadra
Festival in diesem eine neue Location
und findet erfreulicherweise statt!
Besonders spektakuläre Locations,
besonders für Flachländer, hat die
Schweiz mit ihrer atemberaubenden
Berg- und Naturkulisse zu bieten.
Ein Festival auf einer sommerlichen
Alpenwiese zählt sicher zu den Par-
tyerlebnissen der ganz besonderen
Art! Und die berühmte Schweizer Prä-
zision und Qualität spiegelt sich auch
in den Veranstaltungen und der Musik
wieder. Auch das Nachbarland Öster-
reich steht dem in nichts nach! Hier
mag man es musikalisch gerne herz-
haft bis kräftig, besonders in Wien
und Tirol ist eine starke Dark Psy
Szene anzutreffen. Bemerkenswert ist
außerdem, dass Psy Trance auch sei-
nen festen Platz auf großen, gemischt-
musikalischen Veranstaltungen hat.
Noch so viele Länder, aber nur so
wenige Zeilen übrig! Daher emp-
fehle ich einen Blick in den diesjäh-
rigen Psychedelic Traveller, den all-
jährlichen, umfassenden und inter-
nationalen Szene Report.

sich kurzerhand,

Natürlich wird es auch in diesem
Jahr einen Psychedelic Traveller
geben, und zwar ohne Werbung!
Zum einen steht das gesamte Heft
als PDF- Download zur freien Ver-
fügung, darüber hinaus können
großformatige Poster, auf deren
Rückseite sich auch die Länderin-
fos finden, über die Webseite geor-
dert werden. Eigentlich ist diese
Webseite auch keine Webseite,
sondern ein offenes Wiki, was den
auf die Förderung der Gemein-
schaft abzielenden Ansatz des Pro-
jekts deutlich erkennen lässt. Und
auch für die zugehörige Compi-
lation wird ein neuer Vertriebs-
weg beschritten: In Zusammenar-
beit mit Sunstation Records wird
sie nun nämlich zum freien Down-
load angeboten - schlicht und ein-
fach der Liebe zur Trance Szene

now during the summer there are
lots of free open air raves, too.
Even more to the North? Sure, lets
go! To Finland, for instance. Here
there is the home of a very special
school of sound that has become
known as Suomi and that is rated by
me to be “really wicked and twisted”.
Suomi can be heard at pleasantly
underground festivals that take place
in the deep and mystical forests of
the country, which again delivers
kind of perfect scenery. Only when
the morning fog gathers between the
trunks it can get a little chilly. So let’s
head back South again!
The Netherlands not only represent
an open-minded, cheerful mentality,
which is in fact independent from
their relatively liberal drug policy, by
the way. Also their Trance scene is
simply great. In this respect also the
squat house scene has to be menti-
oned for it really pushed Trance for-
ward since the mid- nineties. And
still there are lots of very good par-
ties in this very likable environment.
Here they often also last longer than
in clubs and bars, where there is a
pretty early closing time due to legal
restrictions.
Legal restrictions… seems like unfor-
tunately there is some trouble going
on in France. Many big festivals faced
serious complications with the autho-
rities and almost or really had to can-
cel. Who does not turn into a sponso-
red mainstream event does not have
an easy business obviously. But never-
theless the scene keeps brave: For exa-
mple Hadra festival, that was cancelled
last year, will take place in 2010 on a
new venue!
Very spectacular venues can be found
in Switzerland, especially for those
coming from the lowland the moun-
tain and nature scenery is simply bre-
athtaking. A festival on a summery
alpine meadow is certainly a unique
party experience! And the famous
Swiss precision and quality is also
reflected in the events and the music.
The neighbouring country Austria is
equal in every way. Here powerful
and twisted sounds are pretty popular,
Vienna and Tyrol represent a strong
Dark Psy scene. It is also remarka-
ble that Psy Trance is featured at big,
mixed-music events here frequently.
Damn, so many countries left but only
so few lines. Therefore I advise you to
take a look at the recent Psychedelic
Traveller – the annual, extensive and
international scene report!

Psy Traveller 2010
Last year the Psychedelic Traveller
continued the journey where Tran-
cers Guide to the Galaxy had given in
before. But now the passionate pro-
ject encounters the adversities of the
media crisis itself, in consequence it
was decided to break new grounds.
Of course there will be a Psyche-
delic Traveller also this year, even
without any adverts! On the one hand
the magazine is available as free PDF
download, furthermore large-format
posters including all the country arti-
cles on their backsides can be ordered
via the website. Actually this website is
not a website but an open Wiki which
matches the approach of the project
that strives to strengthen the global
community. And also the traditional
compilation will be published in a new,
very progressive way: In collaborati-
on with Sunstation Records it will
be available for free

PSY TRAVELLING IN
IBIZA
Wenn hier gerade schon vom
sommerlichen Treiben in Eur-
opa die Rede war, so darf auch
das spanische Ibiza nicht uner-
wähnt bleiben. Im balearischen
Aussteiger- und Partyparadies tut
sich nämlich auch in Punkto Psy
Trance wieder so einiges!
Da wären zunächst einmal die vie-
len kleinen aber feinen Open Air
Partys, von denen man am besten
Samstags auf den Hippiemärk-
ten in Las Dalias oder Sant Jordi
erfährt- insbesondere letzterer ist
ohnehin einen Besuch wert! In Las
Dalias steigen wiederum immer
mittwochs die Namaste Partys und
jeden Samstag findet dort neuer-
dings der bisher aus dem Ruhrge-
biet bekannte Luna Club statt! Die
Trommelsessions am Strand von
Benirras sollte man sich auf jeden
Fall auch einmal ansehen, Mitma-
chen erwünscht! Spätestens hier
lernt man dann auch Leute kennen,
die einem von den zahllosen ande-
ren tollen Sehens- und Feierwürdig-
keiten der Insel berichten.

try, you get to know about them
best on Saturday at the classi-
cal hippie markets in Las Dalias or
Sant Jordi. The latter is worth visi-
ting anyway! In Las Dalias you will
also find some proper music every
Wednesday at the Namaste parties
and recently also on Saturdays at
an event already well known from
Germany, the Luna Club. The drum
sessions at the beach of Benirras
should not be missed neither, parti-
cipating is desired! At the latest here

Wie kaum ein anderes Label
repräsentiert Plusquam Records
das enorme kreative Poten-
tial und stilistische Klangspek-
trum, das sich hinter Progres-
sive Trance verbirgt: Ursprüng-
lich von Antaro als experimen-
teller Ableger seiner legendären
Spirit Zone gegründet, finden sich
auf den ersten Vinyls aus dem
Jahre 2000 verspielt- experimen-
telle Techno Sounds von ganz
eigener Gangart. Drei Jahre spä-
ter übernahm Laureth das Ruder
und lenkte das nunmehr eigen-
ständige Unternehmen in trance-
lastigere Gefilde, seinen sanften
Kurswechsel markiert die Compi-
lation „Revive“, die bis heute die
Herzen vieler Progressive Liebha-
ber höher schlagen lässt.

FREQUENCIES
Seit 2008 segelt das traditions-
reiche Label unter dem Kommando
von Thomas Vitali, der vielen von
euch mit seinem Projekt Sunstryk
ein Begriff sein dürfte. Gerade neu-
lich stellte er mit seiner Compilation
„Royal Flush 2“ einmal mehr unter
Beweis, dass mit ihm ein würdiger
Nachfolger gefunden wurde, der die
ambitionierte Erkundung der pro-
gressiven Soundsphären fortsetzt. In
diesem Sinne ist wohl auch der Titel
des Sunstryk Debütalbums „Pure
Essence“ zu verstehen, das im Juli
in die Läden kommt. Weitere span-
nende Ankündigungen für das lau-
fende Jahr sind die Debütalben des
Griechen Alchemix und des Mexika-
ners Saeg sowie eine Ace Ventura
Remix CD. Und schließlich knüpft
Plusquam auch dort an, wo es selbst
seinen Anfang nahm: Mit der Grün-
dung der Sublabels Rococo und
Future Lovers wurden zwei Platt-
formen für elektronische Experi-
mente in Richtung neuer, hybrider
Stilrichtungen geschaffen.

Since 2008 Thomas Vitali is in com-

who will mean something to many
of you with his project Sunstryk.

Seine langjährige Erfahrung am
klassischen Klavier, seine Studien
der Musiktheorie und natürlich auch
seine Ausbildung als Tontechni-
ker mögen so einiges erklären. Und
doch haben die Produktionen des
Südafrikaners Nate Raubenheimer
jenes einzigartige Moment, lauscht
man ihnen, schleicht sich gar das
Wort „magisch“ auf die Zunge.
Von daher überaus spannende Neuig-
keiten, dass nun ein brandneues Pro-
toculture Album bei NANO Records in
den Startlöchern steht: Love Techno-
logy. Nate zum Konzept seines neusten
Werkes, dessen Vollendung ihn fast 2
Jahre gekostet hat: „Ich wollte zu mei-
nen `älteren´ Melodien zurückkommen,
so wie in einigen Titeln von meinem
ersten Album, Refractions. Aber gleich-
zeitig wollte ich auf diesem Album
auch ein Spektrum verschiedener Stil-
richtungen ausprobieren. Die Titel rei-
chen von Progressive bis Full On, von
130 bis hinauf zu 140 BPM“. Eine Zeit-
reise zurück deutet sich mit einem Song
namens „1998“ an. Die dazugehörige
Originalversion von Binary Finary dürfte
wohl jedem bekannt sein, ein absolu-
ter Trance Klassiker (obgleich ihn wohl
mancher dem „kommerziellen“ Trance
zuordnen wird). Für Nate war es ein
ganz besonderes Vergnügen, das Teil zu
remixen, denn es ist einer seiner lieb-

val im niederösterreichischen
Falkenstein wurde nicht nur eine
spektakuläre Veranstaltungs-
örtlichkeit mit malerischer Bur-

alten Steinbruch für den Party-
bereich gewählt. Nein, beides
befindet sich auch noch im sta-
tistisch regenärmsten Gebiet
des Landes! Zusammen mit dem
überaus amtlichen Musikpro-
gramm perfekte Vorrausset-
zungen für ungetrübtes Freiluft-
vergnügen feinster Machart also.

Ganz aktuell wurden die Auftritte
von Liquid Soul, Burn In Noise,
Bamboo Forest und Para Halu

Kannibalen massaker

Auch das Festival mit dem wohl aus-
gefallensten Namen der laufenden
Open Air Saison rückt näher und
näher- gewissen Gerüchten zum
trotz! In der konservativ- rechts ori-
entierten oberbayrischen Presse gab
es nämlich jüngst zwei recht bösar-
tige Artikel, die gar den Anschein
erweckten, das Kannibalen Massa-
ker sei nunmehr verboten und fände
daher nicht statt.
In Wahrheit jedoch verläuft die Kom-
munikation mit den Behörden im Vor-
feld ausgesprochen positiv. So lobte der
zuständige Bürgermeister von Pfaffin-
gen die gute Zusammenarbeit und die
stetige Verbesserung des Gesamtkon-
zeptes. Auslöser für besagte Gerüchte
war eine kleine Diskussion um den
Ausschank des eignes für das Festival
gebrauten naturtrüben Bio-Biers. Dieses
sehr spezielle Getränk lässt ebenso wie
der Name der Veranstaltung erahnen,
dass es dort einige wirklich außerge-
wöhnliche Erlebnisse zu entdecken gibt:
Man kann das viele Herzblut, das hier
investiert wurde, förmlich schmecken!
Ob das wohl jenes „kannibalische“ Ele-
ment ist…?

The conservative- right orientated
press of Upper Bavaria published
two pretty malicious articles namely
which might have created the
impression that the “Cannibal Mas-
sacre” became prohibited and there-
fore cancelled.
Just the opposite is the case: The com-
munication with the local authorities
works out very well so far. The respon-
sible mayor of the nearby village Pfaf-
fingen even applauded the good colla-
boration and the steady improvement
of the overall concept. The rumours
mentioned above had been caused by
a little discussion about the serving of
the specially brewed, naturally cloudy
bio-beer. This very special beverage as
well as already the name of the festi-
val adumbrate how much truly unusual
experiences can be discovered there:

Welt, die friedlich unter dem
Motto »Laugh & Dance« inmit-
ten einer full-on-fluoreszie-
renden Schwarzlichtdeko auf
dem weltältesten Flugplatz für
Frieden, Freundschaft und Frei-
heit rocken: Dafür steht Anta-
ris. Wörtlich bedeutet Ant-Aris
= gegen Krieg, und der Name ist
Programm.
Der Visionär Otto Lilienthal
machte auf dem heute gleichna-
migen Flugplatz in Stölln einst die
ersten Flugversuche der Mensch-
heit, heute bringt dort eine psy-
chedelische Party der Spitzen-
klasse die Gäste in höheren Sphä-
ren zum Fliegen. Kein Wunder,
denn das internationale Lineup
garantiert auf zwei fantastisch
dekorierten Dancefloors in erster
Linie wieder delikaten Progressive
Trance, garniert mit Full-On, Old-
school und Electro.
Die Space-Deko auf dem Main-
floor ist brandneu und wird in
diesem Jahr von den Berliner
Sternenguckern gestaltet.
Auch sonst wird das Gelände in
gewohnter Manier funkeln, flirren
und glitzern. Es ist der Party-Crew
aber nicht nur wich-
tig, dass es ordent-

dass das gesamte

Patrouillieren kann man wirk-
lich ganz hervorragend auf dem
weitläufigen Gelände des VAZ
St. Pölten, und wie der Name
des Beatpatrol Festivals erahnen
lässt, gibt es dabei in insgesamt
8 Bereichen unter freiem Him-
mel sowie drinnen mindestens 8
spannende elektronische Musik-
welten zu entdecken.
Talamasca
Das Programm des Trance Floors
lässt sich dabei als herzhaft-kräf-
tig und durchweg psychedelisch
beschreiben, Namen wie Penta,
Space Tribe oder Talamasca spre-
chen in dieser Hinsicht wohl für
sich selbst. Und für jene, die gerne
auch mal Abwechslung in ande-
ren Soundsphären suchen, bie-
tet das Beatpatrol schier unbe-
grenzte Möglichkeiten. Bemer-
kenswert für ein Festival ist außer-

In dieser Zeit hat sich etwas
entwickelt, was wohl zu Recht
als einzigartig bezeichnet wer-
den darf: Der VuuV-Vibe, jenes
unbeschreibliche Erlebnis, wenn
sich die Szene Jahr für Jahr auf
einem der nicht nur traditions-
reichsten, sondern auch interna-
tionalsten Open Airs dieses Pla-
neten versammelt.
Dies tut sie übrigens bereits
zum 10. Mal in Putlitz. Der Loca-
tionwechsel vor Ort stieß im letz-
ten Jahr auf durchweg positive

Kein anderes Trance Festival hat
in den letzten Jahren einen derart
kometenhaften Aufstieg in Punkto
Popularität verzeichnet wie die
Ozora: Von gerade mal 700 Teilneh-
mern im Jahre 2004 wuchs sie expo-
nentiell zu einer der beliebtesten
Freiluftvergnügungen unserer
Szene, die im vergangenen Jahr
rund 15.000 Besucher zählte. Garan-
tiert kennst auch Du jemanden, der
dort war oder vielleicht warst Du
auch persönlich dabei und weißt
daher: Jeder, der von diesem Open
Air zurückkam, war begeistert!
Aber was genau macht das nach
dem Nachbarort benannte Festival in
Ungarn so speziell? Veranstalter Balasz
vermutet: „Die Leute sind nicht blind:
Sie sehen, dass sie Ozora nicht für den
schnellen Profit abgehalten wird, son-
dern aus Liebe für die Szene. Da wir
in einem armen Land veranstalten, ist
unser Budget limitiert und wir müs-
sen einfach kreativer sein und genau
das gefällt den Leuten. Sie sehen, wie
viel Aufwand betrieben wurde um
ihnen eine Freude zu bereiten. Für uns
sind sie der wichtigste Teil des Festivals
überhaupt!“ In der Tat sind viele Besu-
cher von der extrem liebevollen Gestal-
tung des Open Airs begeistert, die sich
in tausend kleinen Details äußert. Ein
anderer Grund mag der grundsätz-
liche Ansatz der Ozora sein: Sie kon-
zentriert sich nämlich ausdrücklich
nur auf die Psychedelic Trance Kul-
tur und strebt keine Fusion mit ande-
ren Szenen an. So wird in diesem Jahr
zum Beispiel erstmals der Magic Gar-

Wie du vermutlich schon mitbe-
kommen hast, ist die Boom in
diesem Jahr vor Ort umgezogen
und das nicht ohne eine Reihe
guter Gründe: So bietet die neue
Location z.B. mehr Schatten und
ist wesentlich ebener, ein enor-
mer Vorteil fürs Camping. Und
auch der wohl größte Schwach-
punkt wird mit der neuen Loka-
lität angegangen: Die grenzwer-
tig langen Wartezeiten vor dem
Eingang.
In diesem Jahr stehen mehr
Zufahrtstraßen zur Verfügung und
das Team klügelt fleißig ein neues
Verkehrskonzept aus. Trotzdem wird
empfohlen, erst am 18.08. anzu-
kommen- an diesem Datum öff-
nen sich die Tore und es ist extra
für die Anreise gedacht, das Pro-
gramm startet einen Tag später. Zu
den neusten Erweiterungen des
bo(o)mbastischen Angebots zählen
ein Kurzfilmfestival sowie die Fusion
von Theater und Liminal Village in
der neuen „Drop Area“. Auf der
umfangreichen, aufwändig gestal-
teten Webseite des Festivals kann
man schnell die Zeit vergessen und
findet ständig neue Informationen
und Hintergrundgeschichten. In 60
Länder wurden bereits Tickets ver-
kauft und es geht weiter: Gewissen
Gerüchten zum trotz war die Boom
beim Redaktionsschluss nämlich
nicht ausverkauft, noch sind also

place at the actually same venue
this year and this happened due to
some good reasons: The new loca-
tion offers more shade for instance
and is much more flat and not as
rugged as the previous one, a great
advantage for camping. And also
the biggest criticism is encountered
by the new locality: The long wait
in front of the gates.
This year there are more access roads
available and the team is working out
the new traffic concept to perfection.
Nevertheless it is strongly recommend
travelling to Boom not before 18th
August – at this date the gates will
open and it is considered specially for
the arrival, the actual program starts
only one day later. The newest enhan-
cements of the bo(o)mbastic program
include a sophisticated cinema festi-
val as well as the fusion of theatre
and Liminal Village in form of the new
“Drop Area”. Browsing the lavish web-
site will easily make you forget time,
since there are frequently new infor-
mation and background stories availa-

the mushroom cover artist
Ist dir aufgefallen, dass wir das
Wort „mushroom“ gleich zweimal
auf der Titelseite haben? Ja, tat-
sächlich- kuck dir jene fließende
Form dort noch mal ganz genau
an… So wunderbar psychede-
lisch vertwistet hat den Namen
unseres Heftchens der 25-jäh-
rige Portugiese André Maia, auch
bekannt als meskalART.
Mit Erfahrungen im Graffiti Bereich,
einer tiefen Leidenschaft für Psyche-
delische Kunst und einer Medienge-
stalterausbildung im Rücken bezieht
der junge Mann seine Inspirati-
onen aus sehr vielfältigen Quellen
doch auch der Alltag ist für ihn vol-
ler spannender Details, die entdeckt
werden wollen. Dementsprechend
interessant sind seine Arbeiten: Als
freiberuflicher Grafikdesigner ist
er in der Trance Szene kein unbe-
schriebenes Blatt und zeichnet sich
für zahlreiche Flyer- und Coverge-
staltungen verantwortlich. Wenn
André übrigens mal merkt, dass er
einen schlechten Tag hat und nicht
weiterkommt, versucht er trotzdem,
kleine Details zu verbessern oder
etwas Neues zu lernen, um keine
Zeit zu verschwenden.

Did you notice that we have the
word „mushroom“ even two times
on our front page? Yes, its true-
have a very close look at that floa-
ting form again… The name of
our little magazine has been psy-
chedelically twisted in such a won-
derful way by 25-year old André
Maia from beautiful Portugal, also
known as meskalART.
Having experience with painting graf-
fiti, a very deep passion for Psychede-
lic Arts in general and an education as
multimedia designer in his back, the
young man draws inspiration from
diverse sources. But also everyday life
is full of exciting details to discover for
him. Correspondingly interesting is his
work: As a freelance graphic designer
he is not a virgin sheet of paper within
the Trance scene, being responsible for
numerous flyer and cover artworks. By
the way, if André realizes he is having
a bad day and is not making progress
with his work, he still tries to improve
some detail or to learn something new
not to waste time.

Schon seit den frühen 90ern ver-
treibt Guapo psychedelische
Mode, ohne jedoch ein eigenes
Label zu betreiben. Nachdem dies
anfangs durch Shops auf Festi-
vals geschah, verlegte Guapo sei-
nen Verkauf 1998 ins Internet, um
noch mehr Freaks bei der Mode-
suche behilflich zu sein.
Das erste, was man auf der Web-
seite bemerkt, ist ihre Benutzer-
freundlichkeit und dass sie sowohl
für Einzel- als auch für Großhandels-
kunden zeitgemäße Sicherheit und
Datenschutz bietet. Bei über 800
Artikeln wird man überraschend
einfach fündig, seien es nun spa-
cige Goa Sachen oder urban inspi-
rierte Streetwear. Im Sommer wird
eine neue Reihe hinzukommen, die
sich auf natürliche Materialien und
Erdtöne konzentriert. Mit einer so
großen Auswahl ist die Seite wohl
ein Lesezeichen wert. Guapo ver-
tritt hohe Standards, sowohl was die
Qualität der Artikel angeht als auch

mystischen Rituale und besorgten Auf-
räumarbeiten hatten sie entdeckt, dass
die Luft nicht mehr vergiftet war…

information about almost every drug
known by the western world, support
in emergency situations caused by
them and even much more. All these
“party projects” have in common that
they pursue an acceptance- orienta-
ted approach. So they don’t urge you
to be completely abstinent with a wag-
ging finger but rather want to edu-
cate you into the direction of respon-
sible, mature consumption. They also
try to optimize the famous set and set-
ting, the environmental conditions, to
reduce the risk that emerges from con-
sumption anyway.

A perfect example for this kind of philoso-

phy is the “Safer Sniff” campaign: Instead
of advising not to consume anything at
all, small sheets of paper are distributed
so that those who not are averse to cer-
tain powders can roll their own snout
and won’t infect themselves with trans-
missible diseases via the mucous memb-
rane of their noses. Beside objective and
recent information about drugs and their
consumption, the information stands
mostly offer a lot of useful, harm-red-
ucing gimmicks, from a simple glass of
water to ear protection to gratis con-
doms. Some even provide a real “Psy-
chedelic Ambulance” which is professio-
nal mental support for those who got lost
in their own consciousness. The testing of
substances on-location is a difficult topic
that depends strongly from (local) poli-
tics, the organisations and their connec-
tions. Many offer colour-tests, but they
only deliver information about if a cer-
tain substance is included or not. They
don’t tell anything about amounts or
any extenders. Of course it is possible to
check a substance for those factors, too-
but only in connection with much bigger
efforts and coasts, which can be offered
on-location by only very few projects.
