VR90 – VENTROLLA’S WOOD REPAIR SYSTEM

Ventrolla inspects more than 100,000 sliding sash windows per year, and finds on average only a
small percentage (5%) of wood needs to be repaired or replaced.

Ventrolla have devised products and techniques which give long lasting wood repairs. This means
windows that otherwise might have been replaced can now be conserved.

The VR90 Wood Repair System has been formulated by Ventrolla to give long-lasting wood repairs. It
has enabled Ventrolla to extend wood repairs far beyond those normally carried out by using the
conventional range of wood fillers (polyester type) generally available to the building trade.

VR90 is a two-part epoxy resin and is designed to be used to impart the original strength to sash
tenon joints, to fill large cavities in sills and to act as a powerful adhesive. Unlike polyester fillers,
VR90 completely bonds with the parent wood and flexes when the wood contracts and expands. In
order to achieve this bond, all decayed wood is firstly removed to expose sound wood. The sound
wood is then stabilised using VR90 WS Solution, which penetrates the wood fibres to attain the
permanent anchorage for the subsequently applied VR90 filler.

METHOD

Decayed/damaged wood is removed by routing to expose the bare wood. The bare wood is
stabilised using VR90 WS Solution. Cavities formed after routing are filled with VR90 and allowed to
set. The repair is then moulded to match the existing profile and sanded. Larger repairs are
shuttered as necessary.
