Auditor Questionnaire Letter From Council
Auditor Questionnaire Letter From Council
August 31, 2010
Dear Auditor candidate:
I am writing to you today in your role as a candidate for the office of State Auditor. The
Providers’ Council is the state’s largest human service membership organization, and is widely
viewed as the “spokesperson” for the community‐based human service sector. The State
Auditor and the Council share a vital role: we both want to ensure that the $2.3 billion spent by
the Commonwealth to provide essential services to one in 10 of its residents is done as
efficiently and cost effectively as possible. Our society has decided these services are needed
and it must be able to trust that the programs delivered are properly funded and spent in
compliance with the state’s regulations.
We would like our members to know more about you and how you will fulfill your role as State
Auditor. I have attached a short questionnaire with five questions. We ask that you return
your answers by September 8th and hold each answer to 200 words. We will immediately post
these to our website and send them out electronically to the senior managers of our members to
be sure they can review them before the September 14th primaries. Our sector employs over
180,000 people and we are pleased with the voter registration efforts of our CareVote initiative
as we provide full information to our sector about people running for office, the ballot questions
and the critical importance of voting.
Your consideration of this request is greatly appreciated and we look forward to hearing from
you. If you have any questions, please contact Michael Ripple at mripple@providers.org or
617.428.3637 x112.
Sincerely,
Michael Weekes
