Name: Miss Nucleus

Address: Eukaryotic Cell, nuclear envelope

Family background:
I have many family members in my family. We depend on each other to live
and work well to keep the particular cell alive.

About me:
I contain most of the cell’s genetic material, organized as multiple long linear
DNA molecules in complex with a large variety of proteins, such as histones,
to form chromosomes. The genes within these chromosomes are the cell’s
genome. My function is to maintain the integrity of these genes and to
control the activities of the cell by regulating gene expression. I am,
therefore, the control center of the cell. The main structures of making up
me are the nuclear envelop, which is a double impermeable membrane that
encloses the entire me, an organelle, and separates my contents from the
cellular cytoplasm, and the nuclear lamina, which is a meshwork within the
nucleus that adds mechanical support. Without me, the particular cell will
not function properly as I am very important in a cell.
