There is a 30% chance that you will get the 7:00 AM bus.

If you catch the bus, you will be on time in the

university. If you miss the bus, there is a 60% chance that you will be late. What is the probability that
you will be late.

The probability that you will catch the 7:00 AM bus is 30%. Thus,
P (caught 7:00AM bus) = 3/10

Therefore, the probability that you will miss the 7:00 AM bus is
P’ (caught 7:00AM bus) or P (missed 7:00AM bus) = 1 - 3/10=10/10 - 3/10 = 7/10

The probability of you reaching the university on time if you catch the bus is 100%. In other words,
P (on time when caught the bus) = 1

And the probability that you will be late for the university if you miss the bus is 60%. Thus,
P (late when missed the bus) = 6/10

Therefore, the total probability that you will be late is therefore,

P (you are late) = P (missed 7:00AM bus) x P (late when missed the bus)
= 7/10 x 6/10
= 42/100
= 21/50

Thus, the chances of you being late for the university are 42%.
