CHAPTER II

OBJECTIVES

This chapter presents the objectives of the study. This serves as the underscore in

determining essential nursing care needed by the family. It also serves as the standard criteria in

measuring the degree of effectiveness given.

General Objective:

In a given period of time, the nursing students should be able to assess the general

condition of the family and each members of the family, the situation that contributed to past

problem and may create problem in the future through interview and physical assessment. This

also aims to utilize the skills and knowledge of the family base on the principles applied in

Health Care 1. The ultimate goal of this study is to help them gain knowledge and skills which

they can use in minimizing their problems.

Specific Objective:

During the exposure of the nursing students in this family case study, they should be able to:

a) Establish a trusting relationship and communication between the student nurses and the family

in order to express honest and accurate information for the success and completion of the

study.

b) Explain the purpose of the home visit

c) Develop the skills in interpersonal relationship with the family and its members.
d) Apply the learned principles of family assessment

e) Obtain the initial database of the family

f) Evaluate the information gathered in the initial database

g) Know the family’s attitude towards health and evaluate

h) Identify the problems concerning the family’s health conditions as wellness condition, health

threat, health deficit and foreseeable crisis

i) Formulate nursing care plans to the family in their health problems.

j) Give health teachings to the family based on their condition and needs

k) Encourage the family to participate in the implementation of the developed nursing care plan

and evaluate
