About your Teacher

Hello,

My full name is Derek Patrick Smith Jr. For my students, they can
just call me: Mr. Derek, Mr. D, Mr. Smith, or Mr. S. I will respond to
all. I am 24 years old, soon to be 25 on September 25, 2010. Birthday
gifts are due and will be collected on Friday September 24 th, 2010 (Just
Kidding). I have an Associate’s degree from Valencia Community
College, in Sign Language and General studies, a Bachelor’s degree
from The University of Central Florida in Exceptional Education, and a
Master’s degree from Gallaudet University in Linguistic. It has been
my lifelong dream to become a superstar, and teaching students to become positive
members of society a very strong second! I love to teach. I use all different types of media
in my classroom. Music, Movies, Interactive computer programs, PowerPoint, and
whatever other great ideas I can come up with! It is my goal to help student reach their
own person goals while we spend the year together. I am excite for this brand new year
and can’t wait to meet all the parents and students I will have the pleasure to work with.
