SYNOPSIS

The Indian Economy after Liberalization

INTRODUCTION

The process of economic reforms initiated by the Congress Government headed by P.V. Narsimha
Rao in June 1991 has completed 15 years. With data available for decades after introduction of
economic reforms in 1991, this project is about the stock-taking of reform measures on the
economy.
The Industrial policy of 1991, while abolishing licensing freed the Private Corporation Sector to
undertake investments. In this way the process of liberalization was strengthened.

OBJECTIVE

1. To study the Impact of Liberalization on :

 National Income
 GDP
 GNP
 Export and Import
 FDI
 FII
 Agriculture Sector
 Industries
 Tertiary Sector of Indian Economy.

2. To do Comparative Study of Post and Pre Libralization.

SCOPE

1. The study will enable us to gain knowledge about the economic status as well as the factors
influencing the economic development.
2. The study will enable us to determine the merits and demerits of liberalization through the
comparative study of post and pre liberalization and will help in implementing policies for
that.
