Safety Group Activity

Instructions:

1. Students may work individually or form groups of 3 – 4

(no more than 4)

2. Each group will be assigned a room

3. The room options are:

a. Bedroom

b. Bathroom

c. Kitchen

d. Garage

e. Classroom (lab)

f. Cafeteria

4. First, students must draw the room that they have been assigned

5. In this room, they must place relevant objects. E.g. bed in a bedroom,

car in a garage, stove in a kitchen, etc.

6. Among these relevant items, students MUST place 5 safety hazards

in their assigned room. E.g. water on floor, chemical near open flame,

child touching hot stove, foil in microwave, etc.

7. Finally, attach AT LEAST 2 safety symbols to their appropriate hazards

found in each room. E.g. foil in microwave (risk of explosion ) or

chemical near open flame ( flammable )

Grading Criteria:

Correct design and layout of room 1 2 3 4 5

Appropriate safety hazards 1 2 3 4 5

Correct use of safety symbols 1 2 3 4 5

Creativity 1 2 3 4 5
