Course Outcomes (COs)
At the end of the course, students are able to:

CO1: Identify the characteristics and technologies used in

the existing networks.
CO2: Show the differences between circuit-switching and
packet-switching networks.
CO3: Describe advanced network architectures to fulfill
the requirements of various applications nowadays.
CO4: Analyse the performance of various types of
networks under different network conditions.
Assignment (Group of 2)
Study and develop one of the following servers,

i. Web Server (http)

ii. Storage/File Server (ftp)
iii. Video Streaming Server (http)
iv. Video Streaming Server (rtp)
v. Mail Server (smtp)

Analyze the operation of the client-server and the protocol(s)

involved . (you may use wireshark for packet capture)

Analyze the performance of the server through extensive

overloading of the server and/or simulation.

- Deadline (report): Week 10

- Presentation/Demo: Week 14
- Divide the task clearly between the members
