intervene Brainstorm times when students needed to interrupt someone
1. Determine if the other person is available to
interact with you. How important it is that you interrupt them? Will they be happy if you interrupt them?
2. Interrupt when you seek clarification
3. Look at the person. If you can gracefully so do, get within their view.
4. Don't interrupt if they are speaking, unless it's
an emergency.
5. If you must interrupt, say "Excuse me.“
Be polite. 6. For your teacher, raise your hand and wait quietly. (Do not wave your hand or call out their name.)
7. When they acknowledge you and indicate it's all
right to speak, start by saying "thank you." Excuse me, Pardon me, Sorry to interrupt, May I interrupt (for a minute)? Can I add something here? I don't mean to intrude, but . . . Could I inject something here? Do you mind if I jump in here? Anyway, What were you saying? Now, where was I? You were saying . . .
