The School of Public Health (SPH) at the University of Illinois at Chicago

(UIC) is hosting a Bi-Annual Conference on Career Opportunities for Minorities in Public Health. We
would like to invite you to register and attend this conference.

Public health is the science and art of protecting and improving the health of communities through
education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and research for disease and injury prevention. Careers in
public health address health disparities in communities throughout the world, and this conference
provides an opportunity to learn more about what you can do to make a difference. The conference
will:

- Discuss public health masters and doctoral degree programs including the MPH, MHA, MS, PhD
and DrPh: dual degree programs including the MD/MPH, MSN/MPH, DDS/MPH, MBA/MPH

- Discuss the admissions process and financing your education

- Provide helpful insight on Graduate Record Exam (GRE) preparation

- Discuss the paid Summer Residential Enrichment Program (SREP)

- Host opportunities to meet UIC SPH faculty, students, staff, and alumni

- Discuss public health issues faced by disadvantaged communities and the importance of cultural
competency in public health

The conference date is Saturday, October 16, 2010, and registration and lunch are free. If you are
