Rajkamal Assoication, a well-known CA firm was located in South Mumbai. Mr.

Rajkamal was the sole

owner of the firm. The firm had contracts with most of the MNC’s in Mumbai, due to which a lot of
accounting records had to be maintained manually and this required lot of physical efforts at the time of
auditing or searching these records. Mr. Rajkamal thought of a solution to reduce the time and effort
gone in this process, he thought of implementing software and computerizing the entire process of
accounting.

For this purpose he interviewed a couple of IT engineers and shortlisted 4 candidates. He briefed them
that his requirement is of software that will help in tracing the records in a faster way and the best of
the ideas will be given the contract.

Three out of the chosen four candidates arrived well on time with their best appearance and
presentations ready. The 4th candidate, Suraj arrived an hour late and by that time the presentations had
already begun. After 3 presentations it was Suraj’s turn to present his idea. Mr. Rajkamal who was
already offended by Suraj’s late coming got further annoyed by his shabby dressing sense, untidy hair
style and un-kept shave. More than paying attention to Suraj’s presentation he was paying attention to
his physical appearance.

Mr. Rajkamal concluded that Suraj has no caliber to take up this assignment and he asked him to stop
his presentation in between and asked him to leave.

Kadam & Co. was Rajkamal associates biggest competitor in the market and they too were looking for a
similar software. They hired Suraj and used his software for the same. And later it was found out that
this software was much better than those used by the other company in terms of productivity,
manpower and cost.

Kadam & Co. was thus able to make a better business in quick time and was able to give good services to
their clients.

Mr.Rajkamal had to pay a heavy price for one wrong decision that he made, he lost out some major
clients to Kadam & Co.
