Lock-out – closing a place of business by management in the course of a labor dispute for the purpose of

forcing employees to accept management terms.

One of the board members of the hospital was not satisfied with the progress of their hospital. The costs
of the facilities went high and the number of patients decreased. So he proposed to the other members
to cut off some of the employees. The staff nurse heard the rumor and started to file a complaint to the
management. After a week their request was not granted and preceded with a strike. The management
declared a lock-out to save some profit and to minimize the salary cost. The staff nurses can’t do
anything but accept the fact that they don’t have a job anymore.
