School Newspaper Ranks Top in the Country

"The Courant," Commack High
School's student newspaper, ranked
First Place with Special Merit, and
named Most Outstanding High School
Newspaper of 2009 in the United States
by the American Scholastic Press As-
sociation. The Courant was the only
newspaper in the northeast to be ranked
in the ASPA's national contest. In the
opinion of the judges, the Courant was
an outstanding overall example of a
scholastic publication in format, content
and presentation. Students address
issues in the school, in the District and
also tackle global news as it relates
to their peers. Advisor Mrs. Christina
Semple said, "The students, past and
present, that have dedicated themselves
to our publication
