Purpose Statement

XXX students graduate annually with technical or academic degrees in computer related training and
proceed to seek employment. When it comes to computer certification for computer support
management the options can be confusing and misleading.

This paper will investigate the three most common options for training, education and certification.
Traditional education, Vocational education, and hands on work experience leading to testing and
certification. The research will include primary data to be collected through surveys and interviews of
those already in the computer repair profession, teachers of traditional education, as well as current
employers of computer technicians. Secondary data will include current research and technical writings
on the topic.

The result of this research will be an informative look at the three options for computer support
management in preparation for employment. An overview of the cost benefits and overall
recommendations for consideration when selecting a method of employment training in this field, as
well as the extent of degree necessary when gaining employment.
