Arragon is enjoined by oath to observe three

things:first never to unfold to anyone.Of the
right casket,never in his life,to woo a maid in
way of marriage;lastly if he fails in fortune of
his choice,and right away leave Portia and
never return.To Arragon’s heart’s
hope,Gold,Sliver and Base lead,who as
chooseth him,shall gain what many men
desire,not learning more than the fond eye
doth teach,which pries not th’interior,but like
the martlet.Arragon will not what many man
desire,because will not jump with common
spirits and rank him with the barbarous
muilitudes,tell him once more what title thou
dost bear..Who as chooseth him,shall get as
much as he deserves.

To cozen fortune and be honourable,to wear an

undeserved dignity.From the true seed of
honour and how much honour,picked from the
chaff and ruin of the times.To be new
varnished!well,but of Arragon’s choice.He will
take the key and instantly umlock his fortunes
there.When he unlocks the silver casket he
reads the scroll in inside of it.
