Abstract

A healthy individual, a community, an environment or a nation is depends upon interplay and

integration of two ecological factor i.e. the internal environment of man himself and the external

environment of man which surrounds him. Increasing number of healthcare professionals and

institutions to provide services to mankind, actually increasing the risk of hazardous health problems

due to poor attention to the disposals of Biomedical wastes (BMW). The developed countries have laid

down stringent safety standards and measures for biomedical waste management. But the developing

countries have either delayed or ignored such pollution problems, which are more harmful, detrimental

to the health, safety and welfare of the public. With a view to control the indiscriminate disposal of

Hospital and BMW, the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Govt. of India has issued a notification on

BMW under the Environment (Protection) Act, for the purpose of granting authorization for collection,

reception, storage, treatment and disposal of bio medical waste to implement the BMW Management

Rules, 1998. Eco-development is one of the sensible preconditions of sustainable development. So it is

the duty of all who generate hazardous waste, to ensure that it should be handled in a manner that is

safe, environmental friendly and complies with all local, state and federal regulations. So some

measures are required to be taken to snatch the terrible implication of nature resulting from non-

scientific disposal of BMW.
