Networking Notes:

Who else should I be talking to?

I’d love to follow up with you, would it be OK to email you in a few days?

Goal is to build advocates!

BE BRIGHT, BE BRIEF, BE DIFFERENT

Networking is like dating…asking for a job immediately is like asking for sex on the first date…maybe at
most you ask for a kiss which is a follow up email/call or second date.

Always start with bridging questions before the 30 second pitch unless they ask for your pitch directly.

Graceful exits:

“Thanks for your time and insights. I’m really interested in your company, who is the best person to
talk to next given I have an interest in X?”

Then maybe build on the comments the last representative made when interacting with the next
representative.

A thank you note acknowledges that you took time from them and want to express gratitude as a result.
