Dear Miss Caffarel,

I am extremely interested in the Physical Therapy program that the University of Colorado School of
Medicine has to offer. With the two world-class hospitals and state of the art Anshutz Medical Campus,
I believe I will be prepared in the best available setting possible. A university harboring the dedicated
physical therapy skills laboratories, the community volunteer program, as well as the opportunity to gain
an educative cultural experience in Japan, confidently assures me that I will be gaining a truly unique
experience from a truly unique program.

My education, professional, and observation experiences have ingrained extensive organizational and
realistic skills that have proved functional in multiple settings. For instance, time spent as a student
athletic trainer incorporated my academic practices, and my early career as a professional wakeboarder
developed my communicating and social skills across cultural and age barriers.

The Exercise Science and Nutrition Programs have given me comprehensive education in gross and
functional anatomy, biomechanics, human and exercise physiology, athletic training techniques, clinical
nutrition, and fitness testing and prescription. My volunteer experiences have also versed my
populations from geriatrics to collegiate athletes.

As an athlete faced with previous injuries and a person with diabetic, hypertensive, and oncologic
relatives, my heart and experience is with people in need of physical therapy, some caused by
nutritional choices, and some not. With my double major, I feel I have a lot to offer patients suffering
from a variety of ailments, and would like to use my career as a way to improve and extend their life.

Thanks for your time and consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely

Daniel Hoyle Walden
