• People take their strengths too far and don’t even realize it.

• They become impatient with their colleagues and want them to keep up.

• Dividing qualities into strengths and weaknesses implicitly ignores the


strengths overdone.

• Leadership development tools such as 360s don’t show you when a


strength taken too far has become a weakness.

• In short, taken too far, your strengths can become your weaknesses.

• Overused strengths can affect the tem performance.

• Overdoing hurts our effectiveness just as much as underdoing it.

• Overplaying a strength can also lead to diminished capacity on the


opposite pole.
