Traditional bathrooms

The bathroom has come a long way in the past one hundred years. Once just a basic tub set in front of
the living room fire and filled with buckets of water, the bathing experience is now a luxury in almost
every western home.

Selecting right bathroom décor accessories can turn bathrooms into showpieces of homes. Great looking
bathrooms at low cost can actually complement one’s taste. Traditional bathrooms with a soothing and
relaxing theme render a very sophisticated touch. Perfect color scheme and right design of the room can
add extra elegant feature. The bathroom accessories and fittings available in alluring designs, shapes
and sizes in chic style offer a classy appearance. The use of modern technologies and hi-tech machines in
developing the array makes them stand out for uniqueness in design and practicality.

Whilst there have been obvious developments in newer, modern bathroom designs and features, there
have also been many, less obvious developments in the more traditional bathroom styling. Recreating
that authentic Roman or Victorian bathroom has never been easier, or cheaper, with the ‘latest’
traditional designs and furnishings. Almost always, the bath is the centre piece attraction of the
traditional bathroom. A free-standing roll-top or slipper bath sits proudly on a dark polished floor, and
only if going for a traditional continental style bathroom will an inset or sunken tub hold appeal.

When decorating a traditional bathroom both soft tones and bold colors can work well. Strong tones of
browns, maroons and greens give nice warmth to the room, but it has to be made sure the bathroom is
well lit, maybe with a lavish chandelier. As a finishing touch an old style set of weighing scales, a large
framed mirror or bulky traditional radiator, some family photos will give the room that cozy old-
fashioned feel that can be found in a traditional bathroom.
