The course include orientation tours to different environmentally important area
s including forest areas of Sundarbans, road side plantations, agroforestry and block plantations, related institutions and industries to acquaint students with different environmental and forestry activities, and preparation of reports. FWT-1103: Forest Botany; 2 Credit Section - A 1. Introduction to Forest Botany: The plant kingdom, importance of plants, scope of botany; importance of studying different branches of botany with spe cial reference to forestry. 2. Reproductive Biology in Higher Plants: Pollination-Definition, types and agents with special reference to important mangrove and plain land forest speci es of Bangladesh. 3. Fertilization: Process and development of embryos and endosperms, disper sal of fruits and seeds with special emphasis on important forest species. 4. Phytogeography: Phytogeograpic divisions of world flora; important fores t types of Bangladesh, salient features of hydrophytes, xerophytes, halophytes and mesophytes and their adaptations. 5. Mushroom- culture: History, development & techniques of mushroom cultiva tion in Bangladesh.
