REPORT TOPICS ON MACROECONOMICS

This report assignment is a part of requirement to the students who attend the
course of Macroeconomics. This report’s assessment results account for at least 20
% of the total assessments. Those students who have made in-class presentations
do not need to do this report.

The students are required to choose one of the following topics for their reports:

1. TOPIC 1:

- Concerning the Macroeconomic Indicators in Vietnam, you are required to:

o Collect dada on the following issues, from 1987 – 2007: Real GDP,
CPI, Unemployment Rates and Trade Balance.
o Construct figures for each indicator and give your own comments
o Suggest possible measures for long-term economic growth in
Vietnam.

2. TOPIC 2:

- FDI inflow into Vietnam is considered as a very important source of the

country’s economic development. You are required to:

o Collect data on and construct figures of FDI inflow from 1987 until
2007.
o Identify the FDI inflow into Vietnam in 2007 in terms of:
 Pattern of FDI
 Sources of FDI (by countries)
 FDI inflow by industries
o Evaluation advantages and disadvantages of FDI
o Suggest measures to attract FDI into Vietnam.

3. TOPIC 3:

- Inflation has become a critical problem in not only Vietnam but also in
many countries in the world during 2007 -2008. Various policies were used
by the Vietnamese Government and SBV (State bank of Vietnam) to cub
inflation and brought in success. You are required to:
o Collect data on inflation from 2000 – 2008 in Vietnam.
 o Identify and explain the fiscal and monetary policy instruments used
in Vietnam to cub inflation during 2007-2008.
o Give your own comments on these policies.

This report consists of 5 pages as minimum (printed).

Dead –line for this report is the date of final class on Macroeconomics.
