Welcome to First Grade/Kindergarten!

Dear Parents/Guardians of room ___,

My name is Ms. _________. I graduated from the University of Illinois in Elementary Education
with a specialty in _________. I have been teaching for ___ years in ________ Elementary
School in a ___ grade classroom. I am very excited for this year; I have a lot of fun activities and
units planned that will help our children grow to love to learn. This year we will focus on ______
first quarter, ______ during the second quarter, _____ during and the third quarter and ______ to
wrap up the year.

This letter is a starting off point in, what I hope to be, a very open and communicative
relationship between you and I. I will be sending home newsletters every week and hope to
phone or e-mail you twice a month regarding your child’s process. However, if you need to
contact me at any time, please e-mail or call me. The week before school starts I will be setting
up in the classroom; feel free to stop in and say hello!

I would also like to take this opportunity to familiarize you with the management system I have
developed after much study and experience. Please know that this is subject to change,
