A Child

A new addition to this world

Immature, innocent, innocuous
The world’s practices, to him, furled
So his ideas, presumptuous

As years go by
Inklings of practices are learned
From the difference of “Hi” and “Bye”
To the bodily differences discerned

School comes along

His haven of information
Here, he thinks he belongs
And there he builds a reputation

From the basics of Science

To the complexities of English
He showed no defiance
And learned in sweet bliss

Then a stone in the path

Stubbed his toe, got his attention
The ache and his wrath
Left a strange sensation
