Thousands of migrants live and work in our country. For 20 years now, migrants have
been producing wealth and contributing substantially to the development of the Cypriot
economy and society. Despite this, the Government has excluded migrants from the
support programmes for vulnerable groups that were most affected by the crisis, on one
hand, and, on the other, they are increasingly singled out and targeted by racist groups,
politicians and part ofthe media as the culprits forthe crisis.
We oppose racism that produces fear and hatred. The 13" Rainbow Festival projects
the richness inherent in diversity. The Festival celebrates the beauty of multiculturalism
that characterizes our society today. It demands equal rights for all people, irrespective
of race, colour, ethnicity, religion, community, gender, sexual orientation or any other
form of diversity.
The Festival is organised by KISA-Action for Equality, Support, Antiracism in co-
operation with dozens of organisations and communities of migrants, asylum seekers,
refugees and foreign students, Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot bicommunal and
human rights organisations and cultural groups
