The first questions should be, how acquainted are you with computers?

Maybe, we could have like a


question: what are the things you have used in your office career. And have options like, computers, fax
machines, copiers, wireless printers, public address systems, automatic barcode scanners, sophisticated
software to perform specific tasks, like, office2007, photoshop, etc.

This step will ensure that we are dealing with a person who is atleast exposed to technology and knows
how technology can affect/ improve his/her productivity in the tasks they are involved in.

After that, we can have 3 kinds of people

1. Eager Adopters

2. Hesitant “Prove its”

3. Resisters

We could use the following questions to find out the type of person taking the survey.

1. I enjoy employing new technology for my office tasks, and my day to day jobs.
2. I know and understand that employing new technology will present its own challenges and I
expect to have problems.
3. I find solving the problems arising out of new technology use to be stimulating and fun.
4. I rather wait to for the technology to establish itself before I employ it for use for my office tasks
and day to day jobs.

After this stage, we want to find out what are the different technological aids they are using while at
work.

Next, we need to find out how people use of Technology after hours.

Then, we need to find out the various categories that the use of technology is made.

1. Personal Buisness.

1. I consciously try not to mix personal business with office tasks.


2. I understand that by indulging in personal pursuits, I am hampering my productivity at my
office tasks.
3. I believe I can manage my time very well and can take care of personal pursuits while taking
care to complete all office tasks on time.
4. I am proficient at what I do at work, so, I can perform very well at office even after indulging
in personal pursuits while at work.
5. I manage my stock options/investments online
6. If yes, how many hours per day do you spend on managing your stock options/investments.
7. I am a part of a marketing group like Amway which requires me to work after my work
hours.
8. If yes, how many hours do you spend working on such projects.
9. Do you have any supplemental income projects you are working on?
10. If yes, how many hours per day do you spend working on the project?
11. I employ the use of technology to work on projects/hobbies at home.
12. If yes, how many hours do you spend working on such projects/hobbies.

By comparing the number of hours spent on using technology afterhours, we will be able to find out the
time wasted on personal business during work and this will reflect the lack of productivity.
