Subject: Hearing on space research in FP8 - call for expression of interest
Dear Space Research Stakeholder,
As FP7 enters its final phase, the time has come to think about the future and to prepare
the next steps for European space research. The Directorate-General for Enterprise &
Industry will organise a "hearing" event on 8 December 2010 in Brussels to consult a
representative cross-section of the European space-research community on the future of
space research within the Framework Programme. Prominent members of the space
research community are cordially invited to express their interest via the following link:
hitp/ec.europa.eulenterprise/newsroom/ctitomiangdetall.clm?tem_id=4635&tpa_id=1004&lang=on
To ensure a balanced participation, and given the limited number of places available, a
selection may have to be made amongst applicants. The deadline for submitting your
expression of interest is 10 November 2010. We will issue final invitations by 17
November 2010.
In addition, we also welcome written contributions describing a specific challenge that
you feel should be addressed as part of the FPS Space theme. We are particularly
interested to hear about any new ideas to address the grand challenges faced by Europe
over the next decade and which may not already have been covered under FP7, We will
use the submitted material as input for the discussions at the hearing (see registration
webpage for template for written contributions). When registering, participants should
also indicate if they would like to make a short oral intervention at the meeting (no more
than 7 minutes and 4 slides).
If you have any questions concerning this event, please do not hesitate to contact
Richard Gilmore (+32-2-295 3312) or Anastasia Antoniou (+32-2-299 4621) or use the
functional mailbox at entr-fp8-hearing @ec.europa.eu. Participation in the event will be
free of charge (although please note that the Commission will not cover travel costs).
Tlook forward to receiving your ideas and a lively debate in Brussels on 8 December.
‘Yq sincerely,
Paul Weissenberg
