The Way by Karen Chase

the man he lived

at the bottom
of the river
many others lived
alongside Side

clinging
consumed
fearful
never letting go

no other world
no other place
floundering progress against

the man he was

unhappy

? Is this all there is

the man he questioned

what do I can
be afraid afraid
do not
let go
cling to me
cling to you

a voice inside
around
within

let go

the man he
let go

terrified
reaching out
others come back
don’t
go
surely you we will die

the river
took him banged him
tumultuous
reaching out crying out
threw him
