PATIENT MONITORING SYSTEM

USING WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY

Abstract
Our project is a working model which incorporates sensors to measure parameters like body
temperature, heart beat rate , blood pressure and ECG ; and transfer it to the
computer using zigbee wireless network protocol,Which develops an unconstrained monitoring
system that can monitor patients body temperature, heart beat rate , blood pressure and ECG,
continuously so that it gives physical therapist early warning in real time if necessary.
The whole system consists of the patient's side device (PSD) and central monitoring system
(CMS) and they are linked via zigbee network. The PSD was designed to be wearable and
consume minimum electrical power.
Further this system uses WAP technology which enables the viewing of all parameters on
the mobile phone. A micro-controller board is used for analyzing the inputs from the patient and
any abnormality felt by the patient causes the monitoring system to give an alarm and send
SMS messages, which are then converted to email and forwarded to the designated
email address.

thereby making it useful in hospitals as a very efficient and dedicated patient care system.
