Who I am anticipating as an audience
G12-18 year olds.
G Male and female.
G Small screenings, schools, students.
G Not targeting a particular class, economically.

How I am tapping into this audience

G A teenage protagonist, adventure USP. Marketing research states
(click here for source) linking consumers to their products is a strong
way to target an audience.
G Non-gendered storyline. An adventure that anyone can relate to,
regardless of sex.
G Screening at my school. Short film festivals are also an option.

Audience will predominantly be student orientated.

G The film will be screened for free, where ever it is shown. Again, the
home
USP of my film is an innovative fantasy, something that should appeal
to anyone.
Screeningopportunities
There are a few opportunities where I will be able to showcase my film. This
information is important as it also aids me with making my poster.

G Camden School for Girls short film festival ʹ my film will definitely be shown
here. The screening will take place sometime in March. I will include this in my
poster.
G YouTube.com ʹ according to the information on TechCrunch, YouTube streams
over 80 billion videos a month. This translates to every single internet user
watching one video per day. I believe with YouTube I will be able to share the
video virally, thus easily being able to target an audience.
G Virgin Shorts Film Festival ʹ this screening allows budding film makers to show
their work to a wider audience on the web. I would certainly consider this as an
option to showcase my work.

Media Synergy

Media synergy is a useful way of promoting a film. By allowing other types of media to
conglomerate, my film can reach wider audiences. I would like to build up a climatic
opening to my film and will do so through a variety of means, just as big co-operations
do for their films. I will do so through the following;

G A film poster ʹ this will include release date, the opening screening at CSFG, my
production company Pioneering Productions and a critic͛s comment from our school͛s
sixth form magazine.
G A film review page in a magazine ʹ I will create a double page spread to put in a local
magazine (TBA). This will be a review encouraging people to view my film.

Film rating
As I am attempting to reach as broad an audience as possible (and also as I am
screening at a school), I must try and get a U (Universal) rating.

I have recently slightly changed my idea as it had come to my attention that it could
be perceived as glamorising drugs, something I really wanted to avoid. According to
the rules of the BBFC, any glamorisation with drugs will automatically attain a (15)
rating. I have therefore consciously made a slight change my idea to try and attract
my audience.

I will adhere strictly to the BBFC guidelines on ratings and make sure I rate my film
appropriately, as I believe this is an important convention of exhibiting films which
protects and advises.
