“The Dangers of Cramming”, an essay of Keith Ablow, shows us that cramming does more
harm than good. The latest research into sleep needs and patterns suggest that he’s right. For some
people, the decrease in the regular sleep cycle can cause temporary intellectual lapses-and
stimultants can set off severe side effects. The outcome of all-nighters is unpredictable because the
impact of sleep loss varies so widely. It’s critical, experts critical stress, for each person to know how
much sleep he needs. Heavy use of stimultants can contain this problem. In fact, stimultants merely-
briefly-a reduced capacity to grasp, retain, and retrieve information. Nor are unpredictable naps the
only penalty of substance abuse. Unless a person abuses his body with stimultants, he shall be able
to snap back fairly quickly than an all-nighter. Then there are some problems of students who want
to get a night sleep before an exam, but they just can not do that. It is because they get stress when
facing an exam for tomorrow. Stress often promotes insomnia. In the end, the best formula to follow
when the final exam comes is only one that students have been taught for years-moderations.
