Filing for Oklahoma City Council begins


Jan. 27

Oklahoma City residents living in wards 2, 5, 6 and 8 who are interested in running for a
seat on the Oklahoma City Council can file from January 27-31.

The qualifications for City Council are as follows:


• Must be a United States citizen
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must be a three-year resident of Oklahoma City
• Must be a six-month resident of the ward filing in
• Must be a qualified voter in Oklahoma City

Council members serve four-year terms with an annual salary of $12,000.

The filing fee is $200. In lieu of the fee, candidates may present a petition signed by 500
registered, eligible voters.

The primary election is March 1 and the general election, if needed, will be April 5.

Current ward representatives are: Gary Marrs, Ward 1; Sam Bowman, Ward 2; Larry
McAtee, Ward 3; Pete White, Ward 4; Brian Walters, Ward 5; Meg Salyer, Ward 6;
Ronald Skip Kelly, Ward 7 and Patrick Ryan, Ward 8.

Candidacy filing forms can be picked up from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Oklahoma County
Election Board, 4201 North Lincoln Boulevard.
