Knox Academy School Council Meeting – 28/9/10

1. Matters Arising from Last meeting

• Senior and Junior Toilets. Issues with younger pupils not feeling safe. SC discussed
whether prefects can help with this. House Heads to discuss this further with Mrs
Craig.
• Birthdays on screens. Consent forms being handed to Tutor Groups.

2. S1-S6 Issues
• S1 – No issues.
• S2 – Problems with one way system in food court. Younger pupils feel crushed,
Leadership Team to reinforce system with Prefects.
- Confusion over points. Lack of consistency in receiving them. Miss Bulloch
advised that Points system is being reviewed. SC would like pupil involvement in
this review. House Heads of discuss this with Mrs Craig.
• S3 – No issues.
• S4 – Problems with lack of water coolers in school and lack of water in them. SC
discussed fundraising for more, House Heads to discuss this with Mrs Craig. Pupil
dissatisfaction with new food in food court - could pupils do a review of this?
• S5 – No issues.
• S6 – Concern over signing out procedures – S6 to bring this up at Leadership meetings.

3. School Council Notice Board

• M Richardson and C Riva volunteered to work on this. To meet at a lunchtime next
week.

4. Website
• A Gilmour, R Noon and A Waddel to work on this. Mr Dempster has been supportive
with SC section on website. Group to meet next week.

5. AOB
• SC would like to be involved in more fundraising for school resources. Dress down
day popular – House Heads to discuss this with Mrs Craig.
• Concern over detention given for being late. Some pupils worried about late buses,
S6 advised that you would not get detention if school bus was late. DHB advised
that it was pupil’s responsibility to get to school on time.
• Concern about S1/2 Home Economics – not able to cook. House Heads to raise this
with Mrs Craig.
