Dear Parents,

We have a few reminders and news items for the whole of EY:

 The Elementary parents have received an email saying the swimming lessons are cancelled from
now until February. We wanted to be clear that this does not apply to EY. We will be going
ahead with our swimming lessons in EY but will have a shorter time in the pool on cool days.
The children have a warm shower at the beginning and end of the swimming lesson and are
active throughout their time in the pool so remain warm. If we see any children who are
inactive or looking cold we put them in the warm shower and get them changed. If your child
cannot swim for any reason please let your homeroom teacher or AA know.
 We’d like to ask parents to refrain from using the bikes in the mornings. Unfortunately when
children supervised by parents use the bikes then other children who do not have parent
supervision tend to follow them. We have AAs supervising from 8:10am each day, however they
are only in the front area, so for the safety of the bus children we cannot have the bikes open to
anyone at this time.
 We’d like to strongly encourage parents and families to only send in a birthday cake or cupcakes
for your child’s birthday. Sending anything else such as gifts for each child, or party bags, should
be reserved for the party you have outside of school. When in class this creates issues amongst
peers and we’d really appreciate it if birthdays were kept simple in school so as not to distract
from our curriculum. We are very happy to make a special time during the day to celebrate as a
class and enjoy a shared cake or cupcakes. Thank you for your support in this.
 A reminder that the last day to return your scholastic book orders is Monday 15 th Nov. Please
return any orders to Ms Kate by then. The scholastic ordering forms came home earlier this
week.
 And finally, thank you to all families who made it to our EY Family Picnic. Following this is a
short slide show capturing some of the fun that took place at this lovely event. The appreciation
baskets will remain in the Parent area until some time next week, when they will be given out to
the support staff by the children. If you still wish to donate a food item to any of these baskets
please feel free to do so.
