In this Maya basic tutorial I will tell you how to create a new shelf.

With this new shelf you

can store often used tools and commands. I always make special shelf for modeling and store
it with tools which often I apply during modeling process.

Ok, time to start create a new shelf.

Step 1
Click and hold the arrow (see image below).

Step 2
Select New Shelf

Step 3
After that you will see this (see image below). Enter a name for the shelf. In this tutorial I
name it “MyShelf”.

After that you have a new shelf now.

What we do next?
Now time store often used tools and commands. In this tutorial I try to store Extrude polygon
tool to “MyShelf.

Step1
Select “MyShelf” tab and find Extrude polygon tool.
Step 2
Select Extrude polygon tool while pressing “Control (Ctrl)” and “Shift” at the same time.

After that extrude polygon tool icon will show on “MyShelf”.

How to remove an item on “MyShelf”?

Just using middle mouse button (MMB) and drag the item icon to the trash icon on the right
side of the shelf.

You also can use MMB to move the icon to right or left (if you have more than one item
icon).
