Maya Keyboard Shortcuts

VIEWPORT NAVIGATION: TRANFORMS:


(use Option instead of Alt on Macs)

w – move
Alt + LMB – tumble (“rotate”)
e – rotate
Alt + MMB – track (“side-to-side”)
r – scale
Alt + RMB – dolly (“zoom”)
q – drop tool
a – frame scene
‘insert/home’ – edit pivot (or hold down d)
f – frame selected object

VIEWPORT APPEARANCE: HIDE / SHOW:

4 – wireframe Ctrl + h – Hide selection

5 – shaded Shift + h – Show selection

6 – shaded + textures Ctrl + Shift + h – Show last hidden

7 – lights (not default Maya light) Alt + h – Hide unselected

OBJECT SELECTION: SNAPPING

F8 – toggle object/component mode c – snap to curves

F9 – vertices x – snap to grid

F10 – edges v – snap to points

F11 – faces
OTHERS:
F12 – UVs
z – undo!
(for polygons, convert between selection types by using
Ctrl + the function keys listed above)
Ctrl + g – group

GEOMETRY DISPLAY SETTINGS: Alt + v – start/stop playback


1 – rough
2 – medium Alt + . / , - next/previous frame
3 – smooth
g – repeat last tool (not for transforms)
