DRAMA – 2010-2011

I have learnt how humor affects learners this week. I can take advantage
of humor in my classrooms to create a positive atmosphere and my
students can take risks in the classroom in this way. It is highly important
for me because I am going to teach a language and the only way to teach
this language is to make my learners use it. Additionally, I must have a
purpose to use humor in the classroom and it must be subject-related.
There are different categories of humor but one of the safest way to use
humor in the classroom is cartoons carrying a message related to subject.
Finally, humor can be used in many different ways, including attracting our
learners’ attention, improving communication and reinforcing desired
behaviors (or just for smooth-transition).

I like all of the activities we did this week but my favourite is happening
activity. Because I can use this activity with many different purposes and it
is very amusing and interesting. I can teach some grammar rules,
adjectives or just words in the scene. I can also do smurf activity in my
classrooms because it is very unpredictable (also for me) and it helps my
students to develop the skills of observation, creative thinking and
cooperation with others. In the activity we did to have a look at
communication conflicts, I have a chance to see that how our body
language and verbal language can be inconsistent or consistent thanks to
my friends. From now on, I must think twice while I am giving instructions
in my demonstrations

I can use humor in my own teaching because I know that teacher is the
key point to reveal the students’ potential and one of the best way to do it
is using humor in the classroom. I can use happening activity in my
teaching because it is just wonderful. It fosters sense of belonging and
cooperation. We can create our own context in our classrooms and my
students will be a part of the lesson. They are going to use the context
that they have just created.
