Right at the heart of Leeds until January 2011; the City Museum in Millennium Square will be home to
costume collections representing the Heroes and Heroines of the silver screen.

³This is a great opportunity to see what is an amazing exhibition and find out about some of the techniques
that went in to the creation of the stunning costumes which are on display. Anyone interested in film or
fashion is sure to love these special workshops and the fabulous exhibition.´ Leeds City Council¶s head of
museums and galleries John Roles.

Across a wide range of the film industry, the exhibition showcases iconic pieces from films such as µThe
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen¶ and the shirt worn by Colin Firth before Mr Darcy took his memorable
lake dip.

The captions with the pieces offer an insight into the costume designer¶s ideas and views on how the political
and social context of the time is encapsulated in the pieces.
Costume designer Penny Rose uses copious amounts of luxurious fabric and intricate embroidery on
Madonna¶s Evita Dress to make an impact and represent fashion in the 1950¶s; Dior¶s µNew Look¶.

Aswell as stepping into the world of fashion, costume and film, there is also a range of activities for all ages
and the opportunity to learn about the museum, the effects of film production on the costumes and fabrics
and how they prepare for the costumes display, with many set alongside their historical originals.

If you delve a little deeper into this inspiring exhibition you will be pleasantly surprised by what it has to offer;
not only a collection of costumes but representations of time, historical events and iconic figures.
