3 PEDAGOGICAL VALUE OF A TOOL

We have selected Wiki, among other tools in order to plan our Project
mainly because it fosters and encourages many pedagogical values in
collaborative work. Teachers will need this tool when planning
because:

- Creates group dynamics as social interaction and enables

teacher users an easy way of editing, adding and constructing
(building) content
- This is what teachers need in the first steps of any project.
(besides other communication tools).

- Wikis also make use of a simple language, teachers do not have

to acquire a great quantity of instruction (no need of technical
skills) in order to implement and use a wiki. We can concentrate
in our task and not in the environment.

- What teachers edit, change, etc is instantly seen by everyone

collaborating in a wiki.

- It is flexible, as its content can constantly be modified by

anyone collaborating, responding to our needs while outlining
the project.

- All members can equally take part in the development of the

project.

- Collaboration in a wiki is straightforward.

- Teachers need to learn how to collaborate as well as students

and wikis, as many papers say, work as a community of practice
where each member shares their knowledge to build a common
content.

Wikis features give us definitely a cooperative, collaborative, and

conversational environments, provides us with opportunities to
interact with each other to clarify and share ideas, to seek assistance,
to negotiate problems, and discuss solutions in order to plan our
project.
