IceCode Wins GE “ecomagination Challenge: Powering the Grid”

Innovation Award.
(GE announcement http://challenge.ecomagination.com/ct/e.bix?c=ideas)

WEST LEBANON, NH — November 16, 2010 — IceCode (www.IceCode.com) is one of five

innovation award winners of General Electric's $200 million open innovation challenge, the
“GE ecomagination Challenge: Powering the Grid.” The Challenge, launched in July, is part
of GE’s ecomagination commitment to accelerate development of the next generation power
grid and global energy transformation through open collaboration.

GE described the winning IceCode idea as; "a technology that instantly de-ices wind turbine
blades so they never slow or shut down;..."

"Seeking to break one of nature’s strongest bonds, IceCode’s technology removes ice by
using high-power pulses to apply heat from the inside out. Employing this technology for
wind turbines substantially reduces the amount of energy used for de-icing and eliminates
downtime for ice removal and inspection. developed in collaboration with Dartmouth."

“We are delighted to have won this award. Our wind blade deicing technology has
significant implications for wind power capacity in winter climates. We expect this
award will also go a long way in accelerating the productization and deployment of our
other energy saving ice management technologies." - Dr. Victor Petrenko, IceCode
Board Chair

About IceCode - IceCode.com

IceCode assembles the brightest minds in science and engineering to invent and license
revolutionary technologies impacting all things having to do with controlling and managing
ice.

Whether the refrigerator in our kitchen, the evaporator in our air conditioner,
the windshield in our car, the bridge we drive over, the wings of the plane we
fly in, or the power line delivering our electricity, most everyone in developed
regions of the world will own or use multiple products employing the science of
ICECODE.

The technology was conceived at Dartmouth College during a 25-year quest

with scientists, physicists and engineers in the field of ice physics.
